Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India level entrance exam. The exam is jointly conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven IITs (Delhi, Bombay, Guwahati, Kharagpur, Kanpur, Roorkee, and Madras). GATE has released the official notification of GATE 2020 to select candidates for admission into the IITs and IISc. All the eligible and interested candidates may apply online from 03 September 2019 to 01 October 2019.

GATE 2020 will be conducted on 25 subjects (papers). A candidate is allowed to appear in ONLY ONE paper in any ONE SESSION.

*XE (Engineering Sciences) and **XL (Life Sciences) papers are of general nature and will be comprised of sections listed in the above table.
Selection of candidates will be made on the basis of Written Examination. All the papers of the GATE 2019 Examination will be for 3 hours duration and they consist of 65 questions for a total of 100 marks. Since the examination is an ONLINE computer based test, at the end of the stipulated time (3hour), computer will automatically close the screen inhibiting any further action.
