The recruitment of 2621 staff nurses in Uttarakhand has been challenged in the High Court. On Monday, the High Court heard the PIL filed in the case. The High Court has directed the State Government as well as Secretary Health and Health Director to file the reply within four weeks. It has also been clarified that the recruitment process will be subject to the decision of the High Court. The case was heard by the bench of Chief Justice Justice RS Chauhan and Justice Alok Kumar Verma.
Sangeeta Singh and 29 others have filed a petition in the High Court in the case. It said that on 9 February 2021, the government started the process of recruiting staff nurses for 2621 posts. Qualification of BSc degree, Nursing and Diploma GNM were included in this recruitment. It was also stated that the same examination for both will be conducted in the appointment of Staff Nurses. Under this, appointments will be made on the basis of merit. This recruitment process has been challenged in the High Court on behalf of the petitioners.
The petitioners contend that it is wrong to conduct the same examination of both the degree and diploma candidates and appoint it on the basis of it. It is said that candidates with BSc nursing degree teach diploma holders during the course. The petitioners have demanded the abolition of this system in the examination and start the appointment process on the basis of seniority. After the hearing, the court has asked the government and the health secretary and the health director to submit a reply within four weeks.
