On National Sports Day, the Chief Minister made several announcements while rewarding the players at a function organized at the Multipurpose Sports Hall to promote sports and encourage sportspersons in Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister said that medal winners in National Games like Asian, Commonwealth, World and Olympic medal winners would get government jobs in Uttarakhand. In the state, 50-50 boys and girls between the age of eight to 14 years will be given Mukhyamantri Khiladi Unnayan Scholarship every year.
The Chief Minister said that the daily allowance of the players would be increased from Rs 175 to Rs 225. Whereas for the development of sports skills of women players, a women’s sports college will be established in Udham Singh Nagar district.
The Chief Minister said that ‘Major Dhyan Chand Private Sector Sports Participation Promotion Fund’ would be set up to provide financial assistance for setting up sports complex, sports academy, sports university by the private sector to promote sports facilities in the state.
