Following the order of the High Court, Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC) has ended the reservation of state agitators in direct recruitment of Group ‘C’ posts. Candidates of the general category will be selected on reserved positions. For this, the Selection Commission has issued the order. On March 7, 2018, the Uttarakhand High Court declared 10% horizontal reservation for state movement activists in government jobs as unconstitutional. Even after the High Court orders, the Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC) did not eliminate horizontal reservation in direct recruitment of Group ‘C’ posts.
On this, Girish Kumar filed a petition in the High Court. The High Court issued contempt notices to the Selection Commission. After the strictness of the High Court, the selection commission has terminated the horizontal reservation of the agitators in the recruitment of Group ‘C’ posts. The Commission took a written examination of 1214 posts of Assistant Teacher (LT) on January 21, 2018. The result was released on May 31, 2018. The final selection of candidates for 1133 posts sent to the education department. Now the commission has started the process of selection of general category candidates in 12 reserved positions of state agitators. The documents will be verified on May 15, 2019.
“After the order of the High Court, horizontal reservation posts of state agitators have been abolished in direct recruitment posts. In the recruitment of LT posts, verification will be done on May 15 for selection of candidates of general category on reserved quota posts”.
