The department has released new norms on the permissibility of tattoo in the body of the candidates recruitment in Defence forces. Now any candidate will be barred from the selection during selection process on finding any tattoo on the body. The latest rules state immediate dismissal of the candidate.
ST candidates have been relaxed from the rule allowing the tattoo anywhere on the body. But the tattoos will be accepted on certain conditions for the candidates belonging to other categories. Till now different policies were applicable in different places in recruitment process. Now, a single set of rules and guidelines have been circulated for all.
These rules are currently implemented only in SSB interview. However, it may be implemented in soldier recruitment process in future.
According to new rules the tatto is permissible anywhere between palm and elbow. Besides, it is also allowed at the backside of the fist but it should not be ridiculous. A candidate can have the tattoo of the name of his family member. Religious signs are also acceptable.
