Utttarkhand Government has changed the rules of educational qualification for direct recruitment of the Village Development Officer (VDO) and the Gram Panchayat Development Officer (VPDO). Now only Graduates are able to become VDO and VPDO. For these posts now it is mandatory for the applicants having Academic Degree in Science, Agriculture and Commerce and “CCC” computer certificate. So far, the educational qualification for these posts was 10+2.
Most of the schemes of Central and Uttarakhand government are being implemented through Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj Department. These schemes are implemented by VDO and VPDO. The data related to the schemes needs to feed online so keeping this in view it was decided to change the educational qualification at the government level.
Recently, in the Panchayati Raj Department, the educational qualification for the 196 vacancies of VPDO was 12th paas. At that time million number of candidates had applied for these posts. Now after changing the rule in educational qualification will reduce the number of applicants.
As per Santosh Badoni, Secretary Selection Commission “On the behalf of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department, the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) has received the notification of about 400 vacancies. The selection commission is going to start the process of application soon, which will be done by the new educational qualification.”
