Selection to the various cadres of the Coast Guard are conducted every January and June for which the forms are filled six months in advance. Examinations are conducted in 2 phases.
Officer Selection
The Selection for the post of an officer in Coast Gaurd consist of two phases.
Phase I – Preliminary selection board tests applicants in GK & IQ at Delhi, Mumbai,Port Blair and Chennai .Successful gaduate candidates should have passed XII with PCM. Girl candidates can join after graduation only (any subject).
Phase II – After qualifying Phase I candidates go through a final selection in New Delhi. The examination is a test of IQ, GK and Science. This is followed by interviews and medical examinations. A merit list is constituted and as per vacancies cadets are called upon for probation.
Naviks Selection
Phase I– Shortlisted candidates are called for selection tests/interview; Candidates have the option of answering questions in English/Hindi. It’s a test of general mental ability followed by a test in English, mathematics, general sciences and general knowledge. Candidates are expected to qualify in all the papers and in aggregate. Results are declared on the same day.
Yantriks (technical) are tested for knowledge in their discipline.
Phase II- Successful candidates of the written exam are interviewed and tested for their physical efficiency. Qualifying in PFT is mandatory. Thereafter overall successful candidates have to undergo medical examination.
Women Entry Women are recruited in Coast Guard as officers in General duty as General Duty Pilot ,Navigation,CPL Holders, Short Service entry. The selection process for women is similar to that of male candidates. The women officers are posted in non sea going appointments. Unlike the other Armed Forces, the women officers in Coast Guard have the option to serve till superannuation, except for CPL holders and General Duty branch- Short service appointment.

I have completed diploma in aeronautical engineering,can I apply for yanthrik entry in Indian coast guard.
There is no option for aeronautical branch while applying should I apply in mechanical engineering only in the application.
