National Current Affairs for July 2016

  1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on a 5-nation tour from June 4, 2016 to June 9, 2016. The itinerary included Afghanistan, Qatar, Switzerland, USA and Mexico. In Afghanistan President Ashref Ghani inaugurated an Indian Built Hydro-Electric Dam, Known as India Afghanistan Friendship Dam.
  2. India & Qatar signed 7 agreement, covering different fields including trade & investment.
  3. India on June 2, 2016 signed an agreement with US to join the global terror database. US has signed similar pacts with 30 countries and its terrorist Screening Center has details of 11,000 terror suspects.
  4. India become the third country after America and Russia in launching several satellites in a single mission and Russia in 2014 launched 33 satellites in one launch. In this achievments the foreign satellites launched were : LAPAN-A3 (Indonesia), BIRO (Germany), M3MSAT (Canada), Skysat Gen2-1 (US), GHGSAT-D (Canada), 12 Dove Satellites (US).
  5. Sujoy Bose, currently director and global co-head of infrastructure and natural resources at Washington based International Finance Corporation, was on June 27 appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the national investment and infrastructure fund (NIIF).
  6. India on June 27, 2016 became the 35th member of a global anti-proliferation bloc, the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR). Set up in 1987, MTCR is a group of 35 countries which aims at controlling the spread of ballistic missile and unmanned delivery system that can be used for biological, chemical or nuclear warfare.
  7. N.S. Vishwanathan has been appointed as the new Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, replacing H.R Khan. The appointment of Mr. Vishwanathan as the DG of the RBI.

International Current Affairs for July 2016

  1. Legendary former heavyweight boxing Champion Muhammad Ali passed away on June 2016. He was also known as ALI, THE GREATEST. He won the world Heavyweight Championship at the age of 22 in 1964. Ali retired in 1981 and soon found signs of sluggishness and neurological damage. He therefore recieved treatment for Parkinson’s disease.
  2. Pakistan to gets Chinese Funds for Upgrading Rail Links and Building Pipelines. The Central Development Working Party (CDWP), a finance arm of the government gave the nod for both projects ahead of nod negotiation with China. China has agreed to provide loans equivalent to 85% of the cost of these projects.
  3. France become the first major nation to Ratify United Nations Climate Deal. President Francois Hollande on June 15, 2016 finalised ratification of the Paris climate accord reached in December 2015, making france the first industrialised country to do so.
  4. Hong Kong becomes the world’s Costliest city.
  5. Britain decided to quit European Union. The United Kingdom has opted for a momentous change of course by voting to leave the European Union in a closely-fought referendum whose results were out on June 24, 2016.
  6. Sayonara Luxton, the Indian origin councillor takes over as mayor of British royal borough. Goa-born Luxton’s election in royal borough of Windsor and Maidenhead marks a new stage of Political engagement by Indian Origin individuals in Britain.
  7. Virginia Raggi, a Lawyer was on June 19, 2016 elected the First woman mayor of Rome, sweeping over two third of voters. She won over Romans with her programme for cleaning up the administration.
  8. Sunil Bharti Mittal, the founder Chairman of Bharti Enterprises was elected the Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in a voting of Sao Paolo, Brazil on June 16, 2016. He is the Third Indian Bussiness Leader to hold this position.
  9. Reigning Champion Chile defeated Argentina 4-2 on penalties in the final to retain its Copa America Football title 2016 on June 26, 2016 at Metlife Stadium, East Rutherford, USA.
