The contract based recruitment process for filling up 200 vacant seats of Assistant Professors in Government Degree Colleges is going to be held in the month of Jul-Aug. The circular brought relief to the present Assistant professors demanding for extension of the time limit of the contract. While, the proposal of recruiting 21 assistant librarian has been passed from Directorate of Higher Education to the government.
Confirming the news, Director of Higher Education Dr. BC Melkani told the matter of giving preference to the currently appointed professors on contract basis is also in the discussion. Currently more than 500 seats of assistant professor is lying vacant in several Governemnt Degree Colleges. The appointment of 273 assistant professors is currently in the process on the scale of UKPSC. However, out of 273 only 96 candidates joined for the service. Melkani said the period of contractual appointment is of one year duration. Last year, contractual recruitment of 212 professors was done on immediate basis.
The higher education department has selected 11 assistant professors under the on-going recruitment process by UPSC. All are specialized in Physics stream. The verification of selected candidates will be done soon.
